Nuremberg Altstadtfest

It’s that time again—from September 16 to 28, 2026!

Nuremberg has been celebrating the Old Town Festival (*Altstadtfest*) every September since 1970. For two weeks, local hosts invite visitors to enjoy a convivial atmosphere. After the Mayor officially opens the festival by tapping the first keg of beer, you can savor traditional Franconian cuisine in charming half-timbered huts at the "Market of Hospitality" (*Markt der Gastlichkeit*) on Insel Schütt and Hans-Sachs-Platz.

Running concurrently with the Old Town Festival is the Autumn Market (*Herbstmarkt*) on the Hauptmarkt. This traditional market offers a wide array of household goods and Franconian specialties. Other festival venues include the Katharinenkloster, Jakobsplatz, and Andreij-Sacharow-Platz.
