Starting July 26, 2026, the "Klassik Open Air" (Classical Open Air) returns to Nuremberg, taking place in what is considered Europe's greenest concert venue. It is now recognized as the largest open-air classical music event on the European continent.

Since the year 2000, around 160,000 people have gathered annually in the park landscape of the Luitpoldhain to enjoy a picnic while listening to Nuremberg’s two major orchestras. The program offers a mix ranging from sophisticated works and popular pieces to classical arrangements of film scores. The event now attracts approximately 160,000 visitors to the Luitpoldhain each year. Opera connoisseurs, newcomers, fans, families, and friends—young and old alike—come together for a relaxed picnic accompanied by sparklers and fireworks.

The first Classical Open Air concert, featuring the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, takes place on July 26, 2026. The concert will be conducted by General Music Director Roland Böer. The program begins with a family concert at 11:00 a.m., designed for audiences of all ages. For the evening concert at 8:00 p.m., the Nuremberg State Philharmonic will present a program titled "Golden Times."

On August 9, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Chief Conductor Jonathan Darlington, will present a concert titled "Nuremberg Greets the Wide World," taking the audience on a journey through major global cities.
